Laurentius Hospital starts using VR to inform and prepare patients.

Children also have to go to the hospital for an examination or surgery. Usually such a visit is quite exciting. In order to ensure that these young patients are well prepared and to reduce any anxiety, the Laurentius Hospital uses virtual reality (VR) goggles.

Last Friday the first VR glasses was officially taken into use. Mees (9) was allowed to try out the glasses. She and her mother have figured in the first two VR video made for the hospital by Horus VR.

One VR-video shows how an MRI study takes place and on the other film the whole process around an operation is shown. Through the virtual reality technique you can completely imagine yourself at another location. The 360º image makes it possible to view a room completely. For example, children can (virtually) take a look at the operating room or MRI before an operation.
